Cheated Myself
When I set up the photo for yesterday’s post I had this niggling feeling that something wasn’t quite right, but couldn’t figure out what. Today I was choosing one of the canvases to do some work on and noticed the two cool purple mini canvases sat on a shelf, and I realised they hadn’t been…

Fourteen Days
It’s International Women’s Day and fuck the patriarchy, which includes the disgusting colonial project currently evaporating women and children in Southwest Asia. It’s also Day 14 of the 100 Day Project, and I have actually managed to paint fourteen canvases, which equates to one per day, but that’s not exactly how it has happened. None…

Fitting It All In
I decided not to completely obliterate the early scratchings of this one, and just added more layers, and it is looking a lot better than yesterday. It’s weird being back in the studio after nine days with only a corner of someone else’s dining table. It’s almost like starting at the beginning again. I got…

Bad Art Day Have Some Trees
Today was a travel day, returning home, and feeling a bit discombobulated. I have done a short session of painting, a figure on one of the wee canvas boards, but it is really bad, hilariously bad, and the canvas is going to get another coat of gesso the morn. Here’s a path between two burns…

Twenty Minutes is Enough
Using a previous canvas figure painting as a reference instead of a photo, and using one of the patterned canvases I painted this week, and a short painting session gives today’s participation in the 100 Day Project. Daily practice isn’t about always having hours and hours to paint, or producing resolved pieces, it’s just about…

Small Pose
I have something painted on all the blank canvases I brought with me, so that’s a win. Most of my art practice consists of “I don’t think I can do this” morphing into either “oh look, I can” or “well, I can go again tomorrow”, and today I got an “oh look, I can”. Til…

Mini Figure
Late to the painting today as I am not managing to sneak as much time for painting during this visit. I started another 6×6″ mini canvas for the 100 Day Project with this complex pose, and surprised myself getting it down. You really just have to start with no expectations, or even low expectations, and…

Pattern
Another pattern layering session on one of the mini canvases for the 100 Day Project. Hand painting these curves, inspired by some fungi I found in the woods, took quite a while and was quite meditative, which was definitely needed. Til the morn, Suzanne 744/800

Head in Hands
I suppose trying to play with distortion on a complex pose on a tiny canvas while feeling a bit stressed was a big ask. We’ll call it a first layer. The 100 Day Project continues. Til the morn, Suzanne 743/800

Castle and Holes
There was not a lot of time for painting today as we had a day in Royal Deeside, including a wander about this place… Balmoral is opening up to the public these days, but don’t worry, I didn’t spend any money there, they have enough. Ziggy lurcher found some very good sniffs. As far as…

Flat Painting
I forgot my nightie, my collagen powder, and my table easel. Multiple brain farts. I painted flat, which I am not keen on, so settled for using a previous mini canvas figure as the reference for the figure on the crochet monoprint board. For the second canvas I was using up paint and painting circles.…

North
I am up in the North-East for a week, and today was travel day. I did do my daily art this morning, before I left, but I forgot to take a photo, and it’s there, two hundred miles away. Instead, a snapshot from the car, of the railway viaduct I usually travel on. Til the…
